The municipalities in the South Päijänne area offer a wide range of events and cultural funs all year round.

Sysmä Summer Sounds, a festival of music and other arts, has been held for almost thirty years. 

The largest event in Padasjoki, Sahtimarkkinat works as a meeting place along the village's main road for both temporary leisure residents and tourists. At the end of July, the Päijännepurjehdus sailing event gathers hundreds of participants in Finland's largest inland water sailing competition.

In Asikkala you can enjoy the summer atmosphere at the Vääksyn kanavajuhlat festival  and the beginning of autumn with the Anianpellon markkinat (=market) .
