The Clear and Drinkable Lake Päijänne: Asikkala- Padasjoki-Sysmä

Päijänne's unique and varied lakeland nature, clean water, esker scenery, rich flora and a large section of the leisure residents combine the area's three municipalities, Asikkala, Padasjoki and Sysmä.  Asikkala is charmingly idyllic, Padasjoki is home to beautiful national park scenery and Sysmä is packed full of events during the summer.

The area is known as the gateway to the Finnish Lakeland, and is 125km from Helsinki and 25 km from the region's centre, Lahti. Of the area's 2.400km², over 25% of the surface area is water!
